Plastic-Free July Youth Awareness Outing

15+ Youths from Gugulethu will be taken on an excursion to raise awareness about plastic pollution. The goal is to foster environmental stewards, to help cultivate awareness about plastic pollution and stimulate change within their communities.

First, we will visit pollution hotspots on the Lotus Rivers and then the Litterboom traps installed on the rivers to show them how the waste is being collected. This will showcase the impacts of pollution from their community and what can be done to remove it while talking about ways to reduce pollution. The highlight of the day will be a boat trip on the Zeekoevlei to appreciate the natural environment being protected. The youths will then enjoy lunch during the wrap-up and debriefing.
